The skies were grey and looked threatening so the course had a cart path only policy for that day. Got a good price on golfnow and the rain had actually stopped a few hours before our tee time. The day we played this course it had rained several days prior and the day we had a tee time. But will the setup likely cause some people not to go back? I can see that too. Even worse is setting it up like that when the course is at its busiest. Don't get the next putt quite to the hole? Same result. Miss a putt by half an inch, at a very slow speed, and you're watching your ball roll off the green. It's one thing having a pin or two in nutty spots, but there were several that were beyond fair to rank amateurs.

More like impossible unless there's luck involved. I enjoy a challenge, but several pins were put in spots that made it more than challenging. The other issue is the setup of the course.specifically pin placements. The price is getting a little bit too high, not just to play, but the prices at the snack bar. I have two main problems with the course. It was crusty around the edges, but most courses are right now. The course was in surprisingly good condition for how dry its been. It's usually a long round, but I don't mind since it's over an hour trip to get there, and the course layout and location make it worth the time. Salt Fork is one of my favorite courses to visit. You’ll enjoy this course to a point but it’ll probably also be one of your more frustrating rounds of golf. Some of the holes aren’t really approachable in regulation unless you’re a bomber. Other than that though the course is pretty nice. Condition wise they’re fine but they’re so punitive even the pros would probably complain about them. They should seriously do a complete revamping of half the back nine greens to make them playable. Even below the hole you don’t know how hard to hit it, because God forbid you end up above the hole again. Any time you’re six feet away for birdie and feel like you have a 10% chance at best of even making par you know the contours of the green have issues.Ībove the hole is death. They are WAY too sloped, with #10 being the worst offender. It might be the least enjoyable 1-18? Why, you ask? The back nine. The layout is generally pretty nice, and outside of Maumee Bay it’s probably the best Ohio State Park golf course, but.
